What are the best medical schools in the Philippines for 2024?


Planning to pursue a career in the field in medicine?  Is your undergraduate degree going to be something in the sciences such as biology, chemistry, or nursing? Then choosing the best school to enroll in is essential so you can get all of the proper knowledge and training you need. Good thing that there are dozens of medical schools all over the country, however, not all of them can deliver the same quality of education. So, which one should you apply to?  UST and UP Manila are usually the top schools for undergraduate science and medical degrees.  Here is a list of the top medical schools in the Philippines in 2024 that would be great for anyone thinking of pursuing medicine or science.

1. University of the East - Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center



The University of the East - Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, Inc. (UERMMMCI or UERM) is a university in Quezon City, Philippines. Founded in 1956, the university is one of the three campuses of the University of the East. UERMMMCI is a non-stock, non-profit foundation and a memorial to President Ramon Magsaysay since 1957. UERMMMCI has several degrees that are accredited by the Commission on Higher Education as Centers of Excellence and also has level IV accreditation by the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU).

2. University of Santo Tomas



The University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (simply "UST-Medicine" or "UST-Med") is the medical school of the University of Santo Tomas, the oldest and largest Catholic university in Manila, Philippines.


Established in 1871, the faculty is the first medical school in the Philippines. It is proclaimed to be a Center of Excellence by the Commission on Higher Education.

3. University of the Philippines Manila



The University of the Philippines Manila College of Medicine (CM) is the medical school of the University of the Philippines Manila, the oldest constituent university of the University of the Philippines System. Its establishment in 1905 antedates the foundation of the UP System and makes it one of the oldest medical schools in the country. The Philippine General Hospital, the national university hospital, serves as its teaching hospital.

5. Ateneo de Manila University



The Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health or ASMPH is the medical school of Ateneo de Manila University, a private, Roman Catholic university of the Society of Jesus in the Philippines.


The school is located in the Don Eugenio López, Sr. Medical Complex in Ortigas Center, Pasig, beside its partner hospital, The Medical City. Its current dean is former Health Secretary Manuel M. Dayrit, MD, MSc.

6. West Visayas State University



Established in 1975, the West Visayas State University College of Medicine is the pioneer medical school in Western Visayas and the 2nd state owned medical school in the country. It has produced 2,468 graduates (as of March 2009), majority of whom are serving the  different areas in the entire archipelago. Today, the graduates are into community work as primary health care physicians, teachers, researchers and clinicians in various fields of specialization here and abroad.

 

7. Cebu Institute of Medicine



Cebu Institute of Medicine
 (CIM) is the independently-administered medical school arm of Velez College in Cebu City, Philippines.

Both are located adjacent to each other in F. Ramos Street. Its primary base hospital is the Cebu Velez General Hospital also located in F. Ramos.
