Cebu Normal University (CNU) is a state university in Cebu City. It was established in 1902 as the Cebu Normal School, a provincial branch of the Philippine Normal School (PNS, now Philippine Normal University, PNU) under the Section A, Act. No. 74 of the Philippine Commission. In 1915, the CNS became a part of the Cebu Provincial High School. The institution received independence from PNU in 1924. As the institution expanded, it underwent several changes in its name until 1998, when it received its university status. The university’s main campus is located in Osmena Boulevard, Cebu City, while its other 2 campuses can be found in the municipalities of Medellin and Balamban.
CNU currently offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees under three college units: Arts and Sciences, Nursing, and Teacher Education. It also provides preparatory up to Grade 10 education with its Integrated Laboratory School.
In 2009, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted CNU's College of Nursing as a Center of Excellence while the College of Teacher Education was declared as a Center of Development. Additionally, most of the programs under the three college units have accreditations from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP).
