Velez College is a private higher educational institution in Cebu City. It was founded by Dr. Jacinto Velez, Sr. as the Cebu (Velez) General Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. This school offered a three-year Nursing program which changed into a five-year course in 1967 then changed to a four-year course in 1998. Eventually, the college expanded its programs that are in the areas of Liberal Arts and Allied Health.
Until now, Velez College is distinguished for its paramedical programs. It currently offers undergraduate courses in Nursing, Medical Technology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Biology. The Nursing program has a Level II accreditation status from Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) and a Level III accreditation status from the Federation of Accrediting Agencies of the Philippines (FAAP). Additionally, the school has proven itself in licensure examinations. In 2018, Velez College: ranked 5th in the Physical Therapist Licensure Examination; had four topnotchers in the Occupational Therapist Licensure Examination; and, had a 100% passing rate in the Nursing Licensure Examination.
