Cebu Institute of Technology - University was founded in 1946 to become a premier engineering school in Central Visayas. CIT University is widely known for its industry-academe linkages and special programs that paved the way to its current excellence. It was in 2010 that CIT was granted of its university status.
In pursuit of their mission and vision, Cebu Institute of Technology offers basic education to post graduate programs. Their senior high school curriculum covers the academic strands such as GAS, STEM, and ABM. As an institute of technology, the university provides bachelor courses in engineering, architecture, computer studies, and education. CIT also has courses related to nursing, arts and sciences, education, and business management. The institution has 10 graduate programs and 4 doctoral programs.
Due to their consistent academic excellence, the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) recognized Cebu Institute of Technology - University as a Center of Excellence in IT education. Additionally, the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) awarded the university for having the highest number of accredited programs in Region VII. CIT University is also home to 79 licensure topnotchers and more than 600 placers.
