About this course

The Doctor of Education (EdD) is a two-year graduate degree program that enhances and builds upon the knowledge and competencies obtained from a graduate teacher education program. At the doctorate level, the program aims to develop students who have an expert level of theoretical knowledge in a specific subject area in education have the competence and motivation to draw from expert-level knowledge to understand and solve different problems related to their area of specialization in education and have the competence to undertake advanced independent research in an area of specialization in education.

About the Provider

The University of Makati (UMak) is a public, locally funded university of the local government of Makati founded in 1972, initially as the Makati Polytechnic Community College (MPCC). In 1987, MPCC was renamed Makati College and in 1990, was merged with the Fort Andres Bonifacio College. Through Municipal Order no. 433, the university was renamed to Pamantasan ng Makati, which later on changed to University of Makati (UMak) by virtue of City Ordinance 2002-111, in the hopes of becoming more globally competitive.

UMak is committed in providing educational programs where university education and industry training programs interface to develop the youth within and outside Makati into productive citizens and IT-enabled professionals who are exposed to advanced technology in their areas of specialization. 

At present, the university provides educational programs from High School to Graduate Studies. UMak offers various undergraduate degree programs which range from the fields of Allied Health Studies, Arts and Letters, Business and Financial Sciences, Computer Science, Construction Sciences and Engineering, Education, Governance and Public Policy, Maritime Leadership Innovation, Sciences, Technology, Management, Tourism and Hospitality, and Law.  UMak is also known as the country's first ISO Certified Local University.
