About this course

The Bachelor of Library and Information Science is a four-year degree program designed to provide knowledge and skills in the management of library operations, the systematic organization, conservation, preservation and restoration of books, historical and cultural documents, and other intellectual properties. The program includes topics on the basic principles and fundamental 164:Teaching & Academics:Laws of library science as well as the appropriate use of information resources. It also teaches essential skills in the integration of information technology and management information system for effective organization, use, and delivery of learning resources and services.

Freshman Admission Requirements:
Admission Requirements - Freshmen: 1. Certified True Copy Report Card - with no failing grade in any subject 2. Certification from the Principal that the student is graduating from Senior High School 3. Two copies of 2x2 latest colored picture 4. Entrance Examination Fee of Php 350.00

Foreign Students Admission Requirements:
Admission Requirements - Foreign Students: 1. A formal leter of application addressed to the University President seeking admission to PNU Undergraduate Program to be reviewed by the Dean, College of Teacher Development /Associate Dean 2. Authenticated High School Card and authenticated Certificate of Graduation in High School/Diploma with English translation duly certified by the University. 3. A computed Grade Point Average (GPA) equivalent to at least 80% or it's equivalent in the PNU Grading System 4. Student with TOEFEL, IELTS, TOEIC should have a band of 6 5. Students without TOEFEL, IELTS, TOEIC are required to take ELP (English Language Proficiency) prior to taking the PNUAT 6. Authenticated Birth Certificate 7. Certificate of Good Moral Character 8. A written Personal History Statement with photocopy of Passport (original Passport should be presented) 9. Two copies of 2x2 latest colored picture 10. Entrance Examination Fee of US$ 50.00 (Subject to change upon the approval of the Board of Regents)

About the Provider

The Philippine Normal University, formerly called Philippine Normal School (PNS), is the first institution of higher learning that was established during the American Occupation as mandated by the Philippine Commission Act. No. 74. It formally opened in 1901 with Mr. Elmer Bryan as its first superintendent. It was only until 1939 when PNU had its first Filipino superintendent named Mr. Manuel Escarilla. 

PNS was converted into Philippine Normal College (PNC) during the term of Pres. Quirino, on June 18 1949, mandated under R.A. No. 416., where PNC became authorized to grant undergraduate and graduate programs. This institution focused on offering programs related in the field of teaching. In 1991, PNC became Philippine Normal University and full-fledged university in 1992 by President Corazon Aquino. 

As a recognition for excellence in teacher education, PNU was designated as the National Center for Teacher Education in 2009.
