About this course
The program envisions that diocesan priest students become persons who are holistically renewed and transformed in faith as they fully participate in the mission of the Church in our society today. To realize this vision, the program commits itself to the following principles: • Primacy of faith experience and it's cultural context • A Christ-inspired mission and ministry • Global, ecumenical and interfaith in perspective, action, and celebration • Interdisciplinary in approach and • Focus on servant leadership in the management of change. Objectives: 1. Process the priests’ life issues and resolve matters accordingly toward self-enhancement and personal maturity 2. Focus their spiritual search toward the charism and lifestyle befitting diocesan priests 3. Evaluate their theological views vis-à-vis the Church, Church and His mission (Ecclessiology, Christology and Missiology), starting from their concrete experiences leading to the acquisition of an updated theological framework 4. Experience community life with fellow diocesan priests, enriched by mutual trust and support, and in the process, formulate the dynamics and goals of community building with the parish setting and 5. Acquire new skills in participatory research, communications, project planning and management, community organization, and organizational development and planning.

Graduate Admission Requirements:Filipino Student Applicants A. Doctoral Program The Program is open to holders of a Master's degree or it's equivalent from a university or college of recognized standing, with at least five years experience in development work or employment in a responsible position in an educational institute or a development agency. The applicant must submit the following documents: 1. Application letter addressed to the chairperson of the Admissions Committee 2. Transcript of records of Masteral Degree 3. Personal History Data 4. Passport-size Photograph 5. Letter of endorsement from employer (s) and/or previous professor (s). B. Graduate Program 1. For all graduate programs, the appropriate undergraduate degree 2. At least 2-3 years experience in human and social development 3. Leadership potential 4. Capacity for independent study 5. Must undergo an interview with the Section Head 6. Must pass the entrance examination 7. Documents to be submitted: • Formal letter of application • Two copies ASI Form No. 6 (Application Form) • Official transcript of record: Original Copy with Special Order (S.O.) • Honorable dismissal from the last school attended • Two letters of recommendation from the agency or organization the applicant is connected with • Autobiography • 2 passport-size ID picture C. Bachelor of Science in Social Work (Specialized Course) 1. Completion of a 4-year degree course 2. Documents to be submitted: same requirements as those of the graduate program 3. Must pass the entrance examination D. Foreign Student Applicants 1. Same as those for Filipino applicants in the graduate and specialized BSSW course. 2. Documents to be submitted for the issuance of a student visa (9f): • Notice of Acceptance (NOA) from the school containing a clear impression of the school's official seal, addressed to: - Student - The Director, Visa Division-Office of Consular Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs • Six (6) copies of the 1998 Revised Original Personal History Statement (PHS), duly accomplished and signed by the applicant in English and in national alphabet, accompanied by personal seal, if any, original left and right hand prints on PHS and original photos. • Transcript of records/Scholastic records duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate in the applicant's country of origin or legal residence. "SEEN and NOTED" stamp is not acceptable • A notarized Affidavit of Support and proof of adequate financial support to cover expenses for student's accommodation and subsistence, school dues and other incidental expenses • Photocopy of Passport pages where name, photo, birth date and birthplace appear. In addition to the documents submitted to the DFA, the student shall submit the following requirements to the Consular Officer at the Philippine Foreign Service Post upon notice of interview : - ORIGINAL copy of the school’s Notice of Acceptance (NOA) containing a clear impression of the school's dry seal, addressed to the student - Police Clearance issued by the national police authorities in the student's country of origin or legal residence, authenticated by the Philippine Foreign Service Post having consular jurisdiction over the place and - Medical Health Certificate issued by an authorized physician including standard-size chest x-ray. Upon arrival in the Philippines, a foreign student with a student visa (9f) marked on his/her passport is advised to secure his/her Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR) and Certificate of Residence for Temporary Students (CRTS) at the Bureau of Immigration (BI), Intramuros, Manila.

The Asian Social Institute (ASI) was founded in June 1962 by Dr. Rev. Francis Senden, cicm, a Dutch missionary priest— a philosopher, sociologist, and theologian. He arrived in the Philippines in 1956 and became a professor of Social Philosophy, Christian Social Teachings, Sociology, and Economics at San Carlos Seminary in Guadalupe, Makati City up to 1962.
